Can anyone help – is ‘cosy horror’ a thing in kid lit?
And if so, in the lower end of MG, would it be subject-matter that’s kind of icky-creepy-squeamish-y..? More ‘Curse of the Werewolf Boy’ than ‘Dreadwood’..? Love to hear any thoughts!

Have you read any of the “Bite Risk” books, Ellie? They’d class as Cosy Horror and they’re MG. Also, Emily’s book, ‘The Witchstone Ghosts’ is folk horror and cosy (and brilliant!)

It’s an interesting concept for sure. I think icky and creepy works for the younger end, as would Scooby-Doo ish monsters and ghosts. I’d be intrigued as to how the cosy might work – perhaps in a ‘cute cottage in the woods’ way, and that might lend itself to spooky forest happenings, or things coming alive that shouldn’t – perhaps the…

Good morning lovely writers! I do love the weekends as it removes so many of the worries and thoughts I have during the week with work etc and allows me to think much more deeply about my story worlds (lots of time sitting in the car while kids are in clubs helps this!) than I can on a weekday!
I hope you all get some time to diffuse into…

I’m adoring seeing so much activity on here already! We’re still working hard behind the scenes to improve both this site and working on the app, which should be ready in the near future!
I’m also experimenting with a couple of new features, which I’ll tell you about once they’re integrated and I don’t break the site again!
