She was previously an editor at Little Tiger, and throughout her career has worked with lots of talented writers, including Carnegie, Waterstones and Jhalak prize-winning author Nathanael Lessore, YA Book Prize shortlisted author Cynthia So, New York Times bestselling author Jordan Ifueko, and BBC zoologist and vet Jess French. She won the Branford Boase Award in 2024 and was named a Bookseller Rising Star in 2025. She loves distinct voices, big concepts and characters you can root for. With over eight years of experience working at three of the UK’s top 10 publishers including Macmillan Children’s Books, Harper Collins and Bonnier Books, Amber has led successful campaigns across both children’s and adult fiction titles. Her portfolio spans working with iconic brands and bestselling authors, including J.R.R Tolkien, Holly Black, George R.R. Martin, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Stephen Mulhern, Marcus Rashford, David Olusoga, as well as launching breakout debuts such as the recent Yoto Carnegie Shadower’s Medal Prize winner Tia Fisher.
In recognition of her work, Amber was named one of The Bookseller’s Rising Stars in 2024 and was shortlisted for the London Book Fair Trailblazer Award in 2023. In 2022, Amber was shortlisted (with her colleague Jo Hardacre) for the Nibbies’ Publicity Campaign of the Year for their work on You Are A Champion by Marcus Rashford and Carl Anka.

Lorraine Monagle: I’m an graphic and textile designer, illustrator and all-round creative from Ireland. In my previous roles, I have been working for Primark, creating commercial prints, graphics, all-over-prints, packaging and artwork for ladies nightwear, kidswear, and homeware. Before moving to Berlin, I worked in-house at Primark HQ in Dublin where I gained experience working with the buying team to produce commercial designs in a fast-paced, deadline driven, corporate environment. This in-house role also involved working closely with the teams to research, identify creative trends, and translate this into successful, commercial design ranges. Having such a diverse degree such as textile design, meant I’ve worked in a wide range of creative roles. You will see from my CV and portfolio that I have recently worked on projects that include illustration, graphic design, sales & marketing material, movie titles etc. I have also worked as a freelance designer for a major supplier, creating designs for ASDA, Morrisons, & K-Mart Australia. I’m now working in my dream job designing picture books for children. I’m regularly looking for illustrators to commission so please feel free to get in touch if you have an interest in children’s illustration.
