Another day, another opportunity to make progress with our work.
I’m starting a new challenge for myself today – as I often complain about not having enough time to write (I do, but I productively procrastinate) I’m going to do a speed writing challenge.
Basically it’s how many words can I write in 10 minutes. And each day I will record my number and keep trying to better it. I figure I’ve got 10 mins every day so if I can train myself to maximise that time (and most importantly just get into writing straight away – it’s that thinking and debate stage beforehand that often kills me – I’ll be able to make progress every day!
Wish me luck, and hoping you all have a great day whether writing or nay!

Well done Stuart for trying different techniques to get yourself writing. I’m a picture book writer who usually writes in rhyme so I used to tell my self ‘Just two lines, i.e. a couplet. So I’d sit down and write those two lines but I’d always end up writing more. It’s getting to the seat that seems to be the difficulty but once you’re there its ok. Good luck and enjoy. Try not to stress about the number of words. Just enjoy the time xx

I like the 10min challenge idea, I might try it myself.

I think this is an excellent technique Stuart. Good luck.

499 words for the first (12 minute – had to finish the paragraph!) sprint. Will go again a couple of times later when time allows.
