Just a reminder that sometimes accidentally deleting a whole chapter and rewriting it from scratch can sometimes lead to an even better rewritten version!
I deleted it the other day and I’ve spent the whole time in between in despair as I thought it was a good version and I kept telling myself I couldn’t write it as well again. But I just got on with it first thing this morning, rather than moping around in my own head, and it’s come out better, I think. Funny how our minds try to sabotage us so often, and we underestimate the power of our own ability to go and create something good twice! Like all my writing ability is purely luck and whimsy, when actually this process has reminded me it’s just hard work over many years to develop a craft which will always been there, and may even benefit from deleting the first thing you wrote, and rewriting it!

Well done, Stuart! It takes a lot of courage to re-write something that has been lost. I do sometimes feel I don’t have it in me to rewrite another version of a PB. But invariably, the next version is much better. Well, except for my snow leopard story which! 10,000 versions later, apparently, that’s still not the story that wants to get out into the world…
But just to ask, I’m sure you tried every which way to find it but was a temporary copy not saved on your hard drive?

?@Zeshan Akhter? yeah I had a look everywhere but it’s gone – not too bummed now tho as I’ve rewritten it! I also worked out that the hours I spent looking for it and stressing etc I could have written about 5 chapters so my new mindset is to just get back to work and stop worrying about a ‘perfect’ version!
