Welcome to our Community

Firstly, you will need to either sign in or sign up (top right on image).

You can also use the icons on the far left or on the Community drop down menu.

You can also click on Community without signing in to view open groups and forums, but you cannot post or engage unless you are signed in.

If you have signed into the WM website before, use Sign In and use your email and password (you can reset this if needed).

We would suggest using the send of the OR options, ‘log in with username and password’ rather than log in with WordPress.com.

You will also be asked to do a sum to ‘prove your humanity’ – this is an essential barrier to avoid bots and spam, so we do apologise if this causes any issues. If you struggle with dyscalculia or cannot get past this stage, do let us know via the Contact form (in the Home menu).

If you are brand new to WM, you will need to ‘Sign up’ (blue box) and will need to fill out a few more details to have a profile on the website.

Only the first few are required, while the rest are optional. We hope the website and social media options will allow you to connect with people beyond our site and perhaps buy their books or visit their website or newsletter or similar.

If you are on mobile, this will look a little different.

When you arrive on the site, you will click on the 3 parallel lines on the top left.

Then from the dropdown menu (shown right), you will go down to either login or register, depending on whether you’ve signed into our site before, or not.

The steps that follow are similar to the above when using a laptop.

Once you have signed in, you should click on the Community tab on the main menu.

This will display your ‘News Feed’ which will be all the latest updates from your groups and forums and connections (friends).

From here, you can access the groups and forums (we suggest going to ‘WM Community Group – open to all’ first) as well as other selected things on our website.

Once in the main group, you will see several options, including ‘feed’ (all the posts) and subgroups (places to discuss specific/niche elements away from the main group).

You will also see connected forums (called discussions for some unknown reason) for the groups, which are a place to discuss things in more detail or if you’re expecting it to involve a lot of replies/discussion.

A reminder that all of these groups and forums are ‘open’ like most social media, so people can view what you’ve written in the public groups, similar to other social media platforms, so bear that in mind when you are posting, and putting up photos or documents on the public groups.

We have a DM facility for those who wish to discuss things privately with other members on the site, but you must be ‘connected’ (like friends on social media). This is to reduce spam messages and unwanted ones, too.

As with most things in life, the best way to find your way around is to take some time to explore when you have a chance – do let us know if you’re struggling with anything in particular and we will always do our best to help you.

And if you’re a phone user and miss having a quick app to click to access the site, did you know you can add a website as an app on your phone?

iPhone:

  1. Go to the website in your web browser on your phone
  2. Click share (the square with the arrow pointing up at the bottom or top of the screen)
  3. Scroll down to Add To Homescreen
  4. Add your app and voila! An easy way to get straight to the website.

Android:

  1. go to the website in the web browser of your phone (usually chrome)
  2. on the right of the address bar, click more>add to Home Screen
  3. Add your apps and yay! One click to WM goodness!

Do give us a shout if you need any help!

FAQs

  • How do you follow someone?
  • You click on the 3 dots on the main part of their profile, near their profile picture.
  • How to you ‘friend’ someone?
  • You click on the ‘connect’ button on their profile.
  • What is the difference between a connection and follower?
  • A connection is like a friend on other platforms – so you can DM etc. A follower simply gets updates on that person’s activity on their news feed (timeline).
  • How to I join a group?
  • Most groups are open (with the exception of any that are included in a paid membership) so you just have to click on them to join.
  • What is the difference between a group and a forum?
  • Groups are like facebook groups and you can post and interact in there, but the feed can quickly become clogged, so it’s good for updates or news or whatever, but less useful for meaningful discussion, which should take place on the forums, such as ‘Can you recommend this…’ or ‘what do you think about that…’
  • Can I update my profile?
  • Yes, you simply need to be logged in, then click your profile picture (or name) on the top right of the site and you will see a dropdown menu which includes profile>edit.
  • Does this cost any money?
  • No, the majority of the network is free – we do have a few private groups for Hub members etc but we won’t be charging for the social network part, but it does cost us money to run, so you can buy us a Kofi if you feel like what we’ve created adds value for you.
  • What do I do if I have any other questions?
  • Contact us via our contact form.

I’ve also made a short video below, with a screen recording of me navigating all of the above, so hopefully that might help if the above has not:
