Thanks so much to everyone who entered the awards this year. In total we had 1336 entries across the 3 categories and that reflects the value you all have for the additional feedback option this year.
On the note of feedback, those will begin to trickle out to all those who paid the supplement for this. If you haven’t received this by Monday (and do check junk/spam) do get in touch with us and we can resend it.
I know this is often said in competitions, but our readers were genuinely impressed the overall quality of entries this year and said they found it extremely difficult saying no to so many potentially great stories. In fact, many of the stories were so good, there was no fault to be found within the writing itself, and judgements often just came down to personal preference, emotional connections with characters or themes or scenarios, or just a case of too many good stories and not enough space on our longlist for all of them!
So if your story hasn’t progressed, please don’t lose heart with it, so many writers have gone onto publish stories which have not made our longlist – it’s a boost for sure to have made it, but it doesn’t you or your stories success!
So onto the lists – if you’re on these lists, you should have received an email by now saying congratulations. If you did not, you will also have recieved an email to state this, too.
We will now start to re-read all of the longlisted titles to narrow down to shorter lists which will be passed onto our agency partners for this award, Darley Anderson, who will then begin their final judging.
