2022 Novel-in-Development Award: THE SHORTLIST
Our readers report that this was a very difficult two rounds of further reading of entries on the longlist. At times, they were making such marginal decisions and many reported that they could have put, and indeed, wanted to put others forward, but as it’s a SHORTlist we had to be disciplined and we feel this list is a very strong one indeed with the entries getting universal YES votes in these last two rounds.
Our list consists of 1 x CB, 5 x MG, 2 x Teen and 1 x YA novel, and reflects that more than half of our entries were MG. And the entries range from Fantasy to Funny, Contemporary to Historical, with a little of everything in between.
The selected novels have now been passed onto our agent judge, Chloe Seager, who will choose a winner and runner-up and we will announce those when we receive them.
We’re delighted to announce our shortlist below:
Across The Moonlight Bridge | Vikki McLean |
An Awkward Conversation With Hitler | Rob Love |
Grace Hopgood and the Drowned Town | Ruth Cooper |

Lexi Lambert’s Suburban Murder Squad | Jo Dutton |
