Catherine Emmett | How to write in rhyme

This session will cover how to write rhyming picture books. The session will cover the key elements of writing rhyming picture books, with a focus on understanding rhyme, metre and stressed syllable patterns.

Catherine grew up in Newcastle Upon Tyne and spent her childhood reading books. When she grew up, she spent fifteen years making big, boring spreadsheets and not reading very many books at all. After advising a group of young girls to find a career they loved, she decided to take her own advice – she packed up her husband and three young sons, and moved to the countryside. She now lives in Essex and she doesn’t make big boring spreadsheets anymore, now she makes big, beautiful, rhyming picture books instead!
