£200 for 2 full days (includes 1-2-1 for free)
£100 for 1 full day
£50 for single AM or PM session
£25 for 1-2-1 session (note: you must buy a session ticket to do this)

Workshop details:

SAT AM: Workshop One: In the beginning. Discussing how inspiration leads to ideas leads to hooks leads to USP leads to a great beginning

SAT PM: Workshop Two: STOP TALKING!! Dialogue vs action – getting the balance right, particularly for young readers

SAT PM: 1-2-1s: Lauren Gardner

SUN AM: Workshop Three: What, again?! Editing tools inc. big world views, show and tell for young readers and using flash fiction to make your paragraphs pop

SUN PM: Workshop Four: The end of the beginning…is a strong query. Synopsis, cover letter and an intro to pitching.

*Note that while parking is available, it is charged £15 for the day.

 

Workshop Leader/Guest:

Emma Read is the author of Middle Grade debut, Milton the Mighty – shortlisted for the Bath Children’s Novel Award, published by Chicken House in 2019. The sequel will be out in spring 2020. She is a mentor with WriteMentor Sparks and runs creative writing workshops for children in KS2.


Lauren joined the Bell Lomax Moreton team in April 2014 as literary assistant and has been agenting full time since October 2015.  She graduated in 2009 with a degree in English Literature and Drama from the University of Manchester, and has a background in lifestyle journalism and PR.  She is currently building her own list and is looking for non-fiction projects ranging from people undertaking extraordinary challenges and having amazing adventures, to celebrities, aspiring foodies and lifestyle brands.  She has a passion for children’s literature and is also looking for YA and middle grade debuts with heart, humour and maybe a supernatural twist or two.
