Experience: My YA debut released in 2017 with Radiant Crown Publishing followed by a companion novelette, and my next YA novel releases in 2019 with The Parliament House. I have a recipe/story in an upcoming cookbook from Skyhorse publishing and a short story in an upcoming mermaid anthology.
Mentoring style: As a mentor, I’ll try to work with my mentee’s preferences as much as possible. If they prefer emails or phone calls, comments in Word or PDF, etc, and my DMs will always be open. I have a more gentle approach to critiques. I won’t hold back but I understand this is your baby. Expect to have my reactions and fangirling within the document notes. I’ll send an initial edit letter along with the inline comments, and we’ll work together from there.
Mentee style: I would love to work with a mentee that has an open mind toward critiques and is ready to work hard. While a mentee should be serious about working on their manuscript, someone willing to have fun with the process is a plus.
What kind of novel would you like to work on? All the dark things! Murder, magic, mayhem—I love them all. Antiheroes and villains that you hate to love (or love to hate). While I usually gravitate more toward dark fantasy, I’m open to horror. I would love to see a new, exciting world! Alternatively, I would also love to see historical (1950s and before). My tastes vary so I don’t want to get too specific, but one thing I always need in a book is a splash of romance. It doesn’t have to be the main plot, but as long as there’s a whiff of it. And, of course, I’m open to diverse characters.
Favourite novels: The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski, A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas, and all of Renee Ahdieh’s books. In historical, Gracelin O’Malley by Ann Moore.
Mentoring package offered: Full manuscript and redrafts until submission ready
