Agent: Laura Williams at PFD

Published books: THE SECRET DEEP is a YA/ teen speculative adventure thriller out
2nd August 2018 with chicken house books.

Genre: YA or upper MG every genre except funny

Bio: Lindsay was lucky enough to be raised in a house of stories, music, and love of the sea. She left part of her heart underwater after living and working in Thailand where she spent hundreds of blissful hours scuba diving. Forced now to surface for breath, she lives in sight of the chillier Sussex sea with her husband and two sons. When she is not writing, she can be found reading, running or practicing yoga. She has a degree in English Language and Literature, is fascinated by psychology and the natural world, and teaches Science. Lindsay hadn’t written creatively since childhood until the idea for her debut novel The Secret Deep splashed into her mind, and she now she’s hooked.

Experience: I’m an experienced beta reader for both published and unpublished authors. I found my own agent through the slush pile with no outside help. Would love to share what I have learned.

Mentoring style: I will provide supportive, constructive but honest feedback. I will say what I like, as well as what I feel could be improved. I will suggest improvements, but I don’t expect them always to be acted upon, although after a year of editing my own book I have learned an open mind is essential. I work best by email and DM.

Mentee style: In a mentee I’d like to see someone who is open to feedback, works hard, really wants this and is willing to put in the work necessary.

Favourite novels: So many! Recent YA The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James, After The Fire by Will Hill, Children of Blood and Bone Tomi Adeyemi, MG Nevermoor, Sky Song by Abi Elphinstone, anything by Francis Hardinge. I also read a lot of adult. Classics, Watership Down, Matilda, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

Mentoring package offered: Query package (synopsis, query letter, 1st 3 chapters) OR First 10k/20k of manuscript
